Left My First Love
Catching Feelings | Episode 8: Left My First Love
You're still going to church. Still serving. Happier than you've been in two years. And you haven't heard from God in about four months — and you haven't noticed, because nothing feels wrong.
Nobody rebels their way into this. It doesn't feel like backsliding. It feels like being in love.
Ephesus passed every audit. Deeds, hard work, perseverance, tested false apostles and got it right. Clean report. And then: you have forsaken the love you had at first. The Greek word there means left — sent away, let go of. You don't misplace a first love. Leaving is something you do.
Here's why this sits in a dating series: the one thing you'd most need God's read on is the very thing that took your attention away from Him. You handed your judgment to the thing you were supposed to be judging.
An idol is almost never a bad thing. It's a good thing that moved.
The question: When did I last talk to God about something other than them?
