They believe in God. So does everybody in the county jail.


Belief is the lowest bar we have, and we keep treating it like the finish line. You can date somebody who believes everything you believe, was raised in the same church, quotes more scripture than you — and still be headed somewhere completely different with their life.


Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so? That verse gets read at weddings constantly, and it isn't a marriage verse. The Hebrew word behind agreed means to set an appointment — a place and a time. Not two people who happen to hold the same opinion. Two people who already decided where they were going.

Belief is stated. Direction is demonstrated.


The question: Are we going the same direction, or do we just believe the same things?
